Valentino Ricamo Macro Paillettes Tote is Show-Stopping in Monochrome
It is not anymore new to see a Valentino bag covered with gleaming paillettes all over, but seeing this Valentino Ricamo Macro Paillettes Tote kind of surprised me. It doesn’t come in sparkling finish nor does it come with very feminine accents and shade, yet it still manages to grab attention.
This tote is actually in monochrome effect as it combines black and white paillettes all over. It actually looks more like feathers of some sort of bird, and it simply looks interesting with that. And though this doesn’t come in too much sparkle, still, there remains subtle gleam to its totality, making this even more show-stopping. The only problem that you might encounter with this is that the paillettes may easily get torn off or deformed. One bended paillette might not be noticeable anyway, but be sure not to make half of its entirety ruined.
A small Valentino logo plate is placed near the bottom, and it is complete with top handles of 8½ inches drop and with a removable shoulder strap of 29½ inches. This tote looks large enough for you throw in your necessities as it has 13½ x 15 7/8 x 7½ inches dimension. I hope everyone enjoyed their Thanksgiving. I surely did, a bit too much. I couldn’t decide if I should wear my tightest jeans or pull out my maternity pants!! I couldn’t let myself get too disgusting but let me tell you, my new J. Brand jeans do not fit right now =) And although I am in love with this Jimmy Choo Diego straw tote with the snake straps and trims, pool, beach and bathing suits are the last thing on my mind right now! The pleated front and interesting angular shape make this a real style item rather than a utilitarian beach tote for throwing flip flops in. I love, love, love the Christian Louboutin handbags for the upcoming spring and summer 2010. They don’t feature his cute shoe kiss lock, however, a feature that I love, but I guess he has to change it up. The above handbag is fabulous in every way. I love the colors, the twisted material, and the spike detail. The collection features bright, summer-y colors, some large totes, and small clutch bags. Though his speciality is designer shoes, Christian Louboutin’s handbag designs hold their own in the world of luxury bags.

Can someone, ANYONE, explain to me why this pastel-potholder-looking abomination against fashion costs 1100 freaking dollars?
Well, the line is owned by part of the Fendi family, so that should give you a clue to the price. And the bags are handmade from recycled materials, which is nice, but not really an explanation of how much we’re all expected to pay for them. I’m pretty sure that lots of small brands use similar manufacturing practices, make bags that don’t look like granny craft projects, and don’t charge nearly as much for the (much more attractive) end result.
As if the whole “green” factor wasn’t enough to make me feel slightly bad for hating this bag in such a visceral way, apparently they also donate some proceeds to charity. But when you’re making bags that are this ugly and this expensive, are you really doing anyone but yourself any favors? Wouldn’t more attractive bags at a slightly lower price point sell more units and, as a result, make more money for charity and do more to make the “green” movement seem palatable to fashionphiles? For $1100, I’m going to need them to do more than make a bag that looks like an irregular Vera Bradley laptop tote that got sent to TJ Maxx. Buy through Luisa Via Roma for $1131.
