Rihanna in Givenchy Studded Tote Bag
I first came across the Givenchy Studded Tote Bag ($817) that Rihanna is sporting in the photo above at Maendler when I was in Munich a few weeks ago and I nearly bought it. I’m so glad I didn’t! What stopped me from getting it at the time (well aside from studs being completely over-played), was that it’s made out of fabric (the lining isn’t leather either), so while it looks chic, up-close it appears fairly cheaply made. Of course compared to the Western-esque awfulness that many of the other Givenchy bags have displayed lately, this bag is a stunner (not that, that is saying much!). Hard to believe that a brand that has delivered so consistently is beginning to sour a bit. All that aside, I’ve been seeing this bag all over the place lately — both in boutiques and on people’s arms. One of the reasons I buy a lot of my bags abroad when I go visit my family is because you’re often able to get styles that aren’t widely available state-side, I had no idea I would come back to NYC and see so many women with this style in FW tents!
Fendi Handbags Fall 2010
The Fendi handbags debuted at the Fall 2010 show were a refreshing surprise considering the rest of the collection (most notably the shoes) was horrible.The bags mostly consist of structured satchels that have a somewhat prim, but classic and sophisticated style. The popular Peek a Boo made a return, this time in a short fur, striped version, as well as the traditional solid style, but with leopard print detail. There was one baguette in mustard and brown ostrich, and a couple of very small, hard shell clutches.
The bags are very wearable, everyday, any occasion, which means they will sell, even in an unstable economy.
