Chanel Fall 2010 Runway Bags

Chilly but HOT was the theme Karl Lagerfeld chose for the Chanel Fall Winter collection. He is known for his theatrics and he does not disappoint. The bags were for the most part incredibly wearable and updated to keep us finicky girls happy, but there were those show stoppers that make you wonder if he is playing a joke on us. Like the hot water bottle holders. They are in fact for hot water bottles, and if you have a bad back like me, then they come in handy. If not, they still served their purpose helping usher along the arctic theme for the runway show. Fur on a bag is never my style, nor does it make much sense, but it must be done since everyone does it. But this season, the fur is all faux. I guess that negates my argument that fur on a bag is an inappropriate use for warmth.
I do love all the ice crystals that are embellished on to the classic flap, as well as, minaudieres that are a cube of ice. They are made of Perspex, which is a brand of lucite, so basically, acrylic. But they are incredible because they produce exact clarity, color and shape.
The new shape, partially ruched python shoulder bag. Yes, you know it, it is my one new love this season. Still classic and very Chanel – it’s a new bag yet it looks like it could have been from a different era. The definition of timeless! Ruching and pleating makes python so much more interesting, I guess I’m just spoiled by so much python that I need some point of interest to excite me.
The big seller for them is going to be the white to black degrade flap bags. It reminds me of dirty old snow that has been sitting on the side of the road for months. Didn’t realize that could be such a great look when done right! I hope they do this on their classic totes, it would be ultra fab! This is something athletes’ wives and suburban housewives will be clambering for.

Fendi Embroidery Trims Tote

The floral embroidery trim of this Fendi Embroidery Trims Tote is very delicate and chic, a handbag made for sweet girls.
At the first glance, I am sure many of you will be struck by the exquisite craft and fine making. The neat stitching creates so many vivid flowers, as if this bag is the messenger of spring. This bag is so adorable, the clean beige tone is calm and gentle while the embroidery trims gives it a fresh and sweet breath.

Rachel Bilson & Her Chloe Marcie Purse

Cute handbag alert! Rachel Bilson spent some quality time with her kid sister and a gorgeous brown Chloe Marcie handbag, which sports a supple leather and a fetching horeshoe-style design. Paired with her gray cardigan and beigey-pink tee, the look is a home run for me. How about you?

Louis Vuitton Handbags Fall 2010

I really like the Louis Vuitton handbags for Fall 2010. Marc Jacobs theme for this collection was 50’s era ladylike fashion. This season, there were mostly reinterpretations of the classic Speedy, but much better. That functional shape originally designed in the 1930’s, came flocked and sequined, smothered in guipure lace over satin, or woven in metallic thread and done up in fox.
The bags were mostly structured satchels, conservative in design and color. There were no extra tassels or fringe this season, just clean, simple cuts that made for classic and sophisticated bags. The only one’s I didn’t like were the fur covered bags.

Fashion Week Handbags: Chanel
I don’t always love what Chanel shows, but I almost always adore the great length to which Karl Lagerfeld goes to show it. Few people in fashion are capable of envisioning a great spectacle in the way that he does for his over-the-top presentations, and they’re consistently a pleasure to watch, whether or not you enjoy the clothes.
Chanel’s presentation at Paris Fashion Week involved the importation of giant chunks of an iceberg from from Scandinavia, and the models splashed down the runway in appropriate cold-weather attire. Well, it was as appropriate as Chanel gets – there were several of what only can be accurately called Wookie suits, plus lots of other arctic attire in messy, frayed brown tweeds and faux fur (that’s right, all the fur in this show was fake).
About a third of the way into the show, the clothing got a little more wearable and some of the bags got seriously pretty. My personal favorites were the icebox clutches – although they may have not been the most practical bags shown (I think that award goes to the furry, tweedy backpacks), they were the ones that most accurately captured the frozen feeling of the collection and will probably make fantastic collector’s items in the future. On the whole, ome of the bags were bizarre, but if you can get past the faux fur then there was some beauty to behold.

Michael Kors Tonne Hobo
We already saw this bag covered by Amanda, who really loved it. And now I found it in grey and I adore it. I have an admiration of grey handbags and this Michael Kors bag does not disappoint.
All I need is to see the bag in person and touch the leather. Then I will know if I am totally sold on it. Because the price is amazing, under $800 for a calfskin bag with karung pulls. The leather is treated with a pearlized effect which gives a nice sheen to the bag. The other aspect that catches your eye is the multiple strands that twist into the shoulder strap. This gives a modern touch to an otherwise simple bag.
The Michael Kors Tonne Hobo is unexpected but welcomed. The hobo, measurements 14″W x 11″H x 3.75″D, and has a 9″ drop. The karung pulls are both on the front zip pockets of the bag, giving a nice separation to the hobo body. On the inside there is a zip pocket, cell phone pocket, and additional pockets. And I’ll get right back to the price, which finishes this bag with two thumbs up. Buy through Bloomingdale’s for $795.
Spring Trend Alert: Perforated bags! Diane von Furstenberg Hayworth Perforated-Leather Tote

I have been a fan of the Hayworth style bag from DVF since it’s inception a few seasons ago and though the black python with studs is still my favorite, this silver
perforated version is onthe top of my list of must have bags for Spring 2010. The Hayworth is simple in design but packs a strong punch with scallop edged perforated leather. Unlike many other perforated bags, this is much more subtle as the scallop edges look more like snake scales than random holes punched in the leather. This is a bag that will get plenty of wear through the spring and beyond to the fall season– silver is timeless and netural, so easy to throw on with everything. If you don’t have a metallic bag in your bag wardrobe, you need to add one. At $995 it is reasonably priced for a versatile bag– the removable shoulder strap has adjustable buckle so it can be used as a cross body bag (as we saw plenty of for Fall 2010!). Convenient outer pockets on both sides that do not flop over (hate that!) plus interior compartments– there are not many great options for the under $1,000 bags but this is definitely one of them! The interior of the bag is fully lined and there are pockets on the interior and exterior for everything from cords, phones, pens, and glasses to keys and even a water bottle.
what’s the most interesting feature of this bag is that the outer pocket (or pouchette as they call it) detaches to be used as a handbag on its own. What a great idea!
