Go, Stella McCartney! I’m not usually one to jump out of my seat when I see her handbags, but I’m pretty impressed with her Woven Faux Leather Clutch. It makes even fake leather look quite chic, thanks in part to the sophisticated gray hue and woven overlay. It’s a neutral bag, but it makes a distinct statement nonetheless. Try it with a bold dress (think red or cobalt) for an instant study in contrasts that really works. Available for $1295 at Net-a-Porter.

The color of this Roger Vivier Metro Leather Shoulder Bag alone is enough reason to drop almost two month’s rent on a bag. It’s almost hurting my eyes, it’s so vibrant and gorgeous. The color is set off perfectly by gold-toned hardware and a perfectly proportioned chain strap. It looks great right now with my winter neutral outfits, and I can’t wait to pair it with floral prints this spring and summer. Available at MyTheresa for $2,259.

Jason Wu goes clean and crisp for spring 2012 – but don’t mistake that for dull and dreary. The designer serves up big color, quirky details and endless versatility with this vast new collection. The Kate Python Embossed Calfskin Shoulder Bag definitely falls into the “it’s not easy being green” category, what with its acid (some might say puke) green hue and edgy silver straps. It’s a good thing Nordstrom had this tote featured on its main page, because I never would have noticed it otherwise. From Steven by Steve Madden, the France Leather Tote aims to be all things to all women – and I think it may actually succeed, to a point. The minimally detailed carryall is intelligently designed with adjustable straps, interior and exterior pockets, card slots and a phone pocket – in other words, it’s the ultimate bag for the busy gal on the go who doesn’t have time to dig around for her stuff or change her bag every five minutes. The inside is lined with a colorful striped print for an added kick. I don’t think you can go wrong with this fabulous tote. Even the price is reasonable for a “forever” bag!
