Matthew Williamson Pre-Fall 2012
You couldn’t ask for a more adventurous designer than Matthew Williamson. He’s the master of everything wild and brazen, and doesn’t think twice about mixing a rowdy print with some kind of unpredictable embellishment. That’s why you’ll find things like fur-trimmed Navajo sweaters and lavishly beaded jacquard dresses in his eclectic mix for pre-fall 2012. Naturally, the collection’s bags are no different.
The Damask Fully Beaded Clutch is kind of self-explanatory, yet still manages to look considerably gutsier than the initial image its name may conjure. It could be the excessive use of mustard-toned beading, the heavy-but-serious design, or some combination of the two. Add a few contrasting silver and gold beads to the mix and you’ve got yourself a truly eye-catching accessory to see you through the last half of the year.
If you prefer a lighter, more feminine look, consider the Decadent Tile Hard Clutch. The sturdy design is a fairly big trend in clutches right now, but the modest colors and clean design ultimately give it more of a classic feel. As expected, the print is mixed in somewhat chaotic fashion – a zigzag here, an artsy paint splash there – but pulled together so well that it actually ends up feeling very composed and even a bit subdued. The size of the clutch also contributes to its demure look and makes it a great complement to the season’s long pleated skirts and frothy fabrics.
